Yes we’re back again this year, hopefully even bigger and better!
The Festival kicks off with the Carnival which starts at 1.30pm, travelling through the village and arrives at the Recreation Ground around 2pm. Leading the Carnival will be Ashington Carnival Princess 2022 Angela Collins age 9 and her two Attendants Eleanor Durnan age 5 and Ellie Willard age 7 and her two Pageboys Toby Utting age 5 and Finley Pearson age 5. This year we are hoping to get more streets and families involved in the procession, as well as village businesses.
Don’t forget the overall winners of the two groups the best Float or Walking Group win £100.00 1st prize money, 2nd place £75.00 and 3rd place £50.00. The entry for the Carnival is open to outside the village as well.
On the Recreation Ground there will be plenty to do and see. Many, many stalls selling cakes, crafts, plants etc. A car boot sale, a fun dog show kindly sponsored by Stuart & Jose Harrison, a classic car show, funfair rides, animals to pet, food vans and a licenced bar and Pimm’s tent. There will be a large raffle and a separate raffle to win the wheelbarrow of booze.
In the Arena we welcome back from the Isle of Wight the Medina Band marching and playing popular music, The Dog and Duck Show, Dangerous Steve has an act full of sensational stunts, dancers and gymnastics.
As evening draws on, we welcome back our old favourites, Creative Covers playing music through the decades and we welcome to Ashington for the first time Marc as Robbie Williams followed by a fantastic firework display at 10pm and after that a Disco to keep everyone dancing the night away!
